A large – 33.7cm diameter – wall or window poster advertising the Duncan Yo-Yo on sale here. This poster is from around the late 1960s into the 1970s.
Unlike other Duncan circular posters from the past, this version did not mention the Duncan Yo-Yo Tournament Top, Model 77. Gone as well was the silhouette image of Duncan's Mr. Yo-Yo character standing on a base pedestal with an oversized hand throwing down a yo-yo. In fact, this poster did not feature Duncan's Mr. Yo-Yo character at all (that was corrected in the 1980s version of this poster). Even the string packs from the same time period did not feature the Mr. Yo-Yo character. Perhaps Flambeau thought the character was too old fashioned and juvenile in the 1970s?
From the late 1940s and into the 1980s, these large, round, eye-catching posters were often seen in store windows, or on a wall inside the store near a counter display box of Duncan yo-yos. While the poster size never changed in all those years, the yo-yo image and colors varied slightly. Some were printed with a yellow or blue yo-yo body with a black stripe, and some with a red yo-yo body with and without a black stripe. And, as the years went by, there were slight design variations made to the center text and imagery as well.
