The Genuine Yo-Yo was among the first of two models made by the newly formed Donald F. Duncan, Inc. (28 North Sheldon Street, Chicago, Illinois) after they bought the Flores Yo-Yo Co. (1938 Hyperion Avenue, Los Angeles, California) in 1929. The other was the O-Boy. Neither yo-yo model used "Duncan" in the stamp. By 1932, Duncan was permitted to legally use the name Flores Yo-Yo on yo-yos. Duncan also took over the assets of James E. Lewis who -- at that time -- had been operating as the un-incorporated Flores Yo-Yo Company. Among the numerous assets that Duncan assumed were "100,000 or probably more unfinished 15 cent size toys, approximately 20 to 25 gross [2,880 to 3,600 respectively] of finished toys, all sizes (these may have been shipped out since I [Donald A. Gooch) left Los Angeles), approximately 1 dozen 5-gallon lacquer containers with faucets; 25 to 35 gallons of lacquer."

Based on the above information, it suggests that the early "Duncan" yo-yo in this exhibit may have been among the finished or unfinished assets that Duncan took over from the Flores company in 1932. The profile of the yo-yo appears to be a Flores body. Use the Compare feature to study the body shape of this yo-yo to the large diameter Flores yo-yo and the smaller diameter Flores yo-yo. Notice the pronounced right angle of the inner wall of each body halve.
