The Buzz-On Industries Menehune Pro was a special limited edition, undersize yo-yo released April, 2004. The yo-yo featured a new body shape (compared to their Element X and Bushido models), Buzz-On Industries patent pending Spacer Pad Response (SPR) system, and Dif-e-Yo's patent pending KonKave bearing. Each body halve was recessed so that their new SPR system would fit nice and snug into the body. The Menehune Pro energy rings are bonded to its ABS plastic body. The first 250 Menehune Pro yo-yos had non-engraved energy rings and individually numbered sidecaps. (It's unknown if the unit number meant 250 total of black and white or 250 black and 250 white)

It sported a computer-designed shape with a body made out of ABS plastic, aluminum "Energy Rings" weight rings on the outer perimeter of each halve, and interchangeable parts.

The yo-yo included the patent pending Dif-e-Yo Koncave ABEC7 ball bearing axle and Buzz-On's patent pending SPR (Spacer Pad Response) system. The SPR system centrally located the ball bearing, had bearing gap string guards, and a large surface area for using Duncan-brand Friction Stickers or nearly any other brand response pad that you wanted to use. The system was also made in three different sizes to accommodate popular bearing sizes at the time: size C, size A, and size B. So, you could use any size SPR in the Menehune and Menehune Pro. Notice that the yo-yo halves are recessed to accept the thickness of the SPR pieces.

The Menehune came in several known editions: regular, Pro-Series, and Dave's Skill Toys. The regular and Dave's Skill Toys editions had aluminum weight rings that were engraved with "Buzz-On" and "Menehune". The Pro version did not have engraved rings for some reason.

Buzz-On, based out of 6748 Hovenkamp Ave, Richland, Texas has not release any new yo-yos in more than ten years and is considered out of business. The www.buzzonyoyos.com website went completely offline in March, 2008

From the Buzz-On website:
"Buzz-On Industries was founded in 2003 by Dave Bazan and David Muehlhaeusler.

Dave Bazan was a World and National Spin Top Champion. He was also a professional yo-yo player and educator. David Muehlhaeusler was a product designer and engineer professional in the HID Lighting Industry.

They met each other in the summer of 2002 through their girlfriends. In the fall of 2002, both Dave's realized they could use each others' talents to design a new yo-yo and start a company. The new yo yo developed into the Buzz-On Element X: a high performance, low cost, competition yo-yo for players.

The success of the Element X established Buzz-On as a true skill toy manufacturer. That's why we say Buzz-On Industries is reinventing the skill toy industry, by manufacturing quality, low cost yo yos like the Element X, Bushido, and the all new Menehune."

Original retail price: $45 US.
