Golden Apple newsletters from 1999. Golden Apple Comics was a pop-culture institution in Southern California started by Bill Liebowitz. In the late 1990s, during the yo-yo boom, Golden Apple Yo-Yo Corps was formed out of Golden Apple Comics. On the first Sunday of every month, between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. the 7711 Melrose Avenue Golden Apple store hosted yo-yo instruction and exhibitions. The store also created a short-lived newsletter. The newsletters are now a wonderful window into the activity and excitement that existed during the boom. They also provide a snapshot of the final few years in which fixed axle yo-yos were still the mainstay of play and string tricks.
