The following year the championship was held at the Mall of America on Sunday, May 6, 1999. The contest consisted entirely of fixed axle yo-yo string tricks.

From the MWR website:
"The Midwest Regional Yo-Yo Championships is one of the regional contests of the National Yo-Yo League. It encompasses nine Midwestern states (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska). The winners of the 1A – 5A Championship divisions get seeded to the National Yo-Yo contest. National Yo-Yo Master and head judge 'Dazzling Dave' Schulte is the organizer of the event." | |
