A very detailed Duncan yo-yo contest flyer from the spring of 1961. What is missing are the list of tricks for the contest.
By this time in Duncan's history, it was trips and prizes that kids were really after, not first, second, and third place "emblems" (patches). Hence the high visual placement on the flyer of the trip to Disneyland, a portable television set, a complete movie outfit, and deluxe boys and girls bicycles.
How I was able to date the flyer...
WABC, channel 7, of New York City hosted a weekday morning edition of the Little Rascals show, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., starting in 1957. The flyer's Little Rascals listing for Monday, April 3 puts the year of this flyer between March, 1961 to May, 1961. If it wasn't for the station, channel, and show listings at the bottom of the flyer, dating this piece would have been challenging.
