The D2O was part of the Cold Fusion Isotope Series and one of the last releases by Playmaxx before they were bought by Duncan Toys. A slimline butterfly like the other "Isotopes", the D2O had a slightly wider gap and rounded edges, unlike the other Isos. The coating was a thick anodized bronze finish that ranged from bronze to greenish bronze. If you look at the center of the yo-yo in the Logo Side View, that was typical of the finish of this model.
The coating on these had problems with adherring over time if exposed to the air for long periods of time, and oxidation from the air. This one is the most spectacular finish I have seen on a D2O. This one was opened to photograph for my online store, and then placed in an air tight ziplock bag for 20 years. The oxidation created this unique finish of rainbow colors. A patina has developed, just like on an old coin. The finish on this one also feels slightly textured. When asking the owner of Playmaxx about this one, here is his response. This is one of the rarer Antique Gold D2Os.
"Is the finish a bit rough too? I think those were the ones we called "antique gold". They were "anodized" with the same gold that they use for industrial electrical contacts. Breakers and big relays. It had some interesting hues." - Tom Van Dan Elzen
