Core Company's remake of the Alleycat addressed some play issues that the original release suffered from. For this 650b release, the diameter was reduced from 59 mm to 57 mm and the string gap was reduced from 3.4 mm to 3.1 mm. These seemingly small changes were made in an effort to improve the yo-yo's looping ability and playability when completing original yo-yo tricks such as Shoot the Moon. Compared to the original Alleycat, the 650b version has softer edges and the protuding hex hub was eliminated in favor of a smooth, relatively flat hub lump.
The initial release of the 650b version occurred on March 22, 2018 and came in anodized colors of black, purple, teal, green, black/purple fade, silver with black splash, and a green/purple fade. For some reason, only the green/purple fade came with a seal design on one halve that was composed of "Alleycat" and the Core Company's graphic of a speeding road biker.
Uses a heavily lubricated size A (5x10x4 mm) ball bearing axle and, new to this version, Core Company's own response pads. Designed in the USA and made in China.
Original retail price: $55 US.
