Bird in Hand's Model 33 fixed axle yo-yo. This tournament-style yo-yo is made from walnut and stained medium brown.

Bird in Hand is an eclectic store in downtown Chico, California that sells clothing, games, and an assortment of toys and gifts. So, what's the connection to yo-yos? In the rear section of Bird in Hand is the National Yo-Yo Museum. It contains a public display of all things yo-yo. It is also home to Chico Yo-Yo Club, the longest running yo-yo club in the USA. The museum – run by Bob Malowney – is the place to be every year on June 6: National Yo-Yo Day.

Bird in Hand sold a variety of stained and lacquered wooden yo-yos between 1988 to 1995. The yo-yos themselves were handcrafted by Steve Smith of Chico. By 1993, Bird in Hand contracted with Hummingbird Yo-Yo of New York to create yo-yos for the National Yo-Yo Contest such as these from 1993 and 1994. In 1995, Bird in Hand contracted with Hummingbird's successor, BC/What's Next Yo-Yos, to create yo-yos again for the National Yo-Yo Contest such as these from 1996 and 1997.
