The YYF (YoYoFactory) Onestar was released March 16, 2015 as part of YYFs Japan Collection, also released at the same time. The limited edition trio that made up the YYF Japan collection was the following:
The Onestar is made from a new, durable plastic from Yoyofactory and is designed based off the all-time favorite Protostar. The main difference between the Protostar and Onestar is that the Onestar does not come with metal weight rings in the yo-yo halves.
The Onestar was a budget friendly yo-yo ideal for practice and for learning binds and binding tricks. The model came in a textured plastic, unlike most other Yoyofactory plastic yo-yos. The texture helped when you were performing grind tricks. This model also came with a center trac bearing, considered an upgrade from the bearing used in the standard issue Onestar. Uses white CBC response pads.
This version of the OneStar was a special edition Japan Collection yo-yo featuring a Sakura flower in place of the original Star on the yo-yo. It also commemorated the World Yo-Yo Contest that, at the time, was in Tokyo, Japan.
