In 2010, YoYoFactory set the goal of producing a modern performance plastic/metal hybrid yoyo that out performed the most capable metal yoyos at a fraction of the price. The result of those efforts was the Northstar yoyo, which went on to win the 2010 World YoYo Contest.
The NorthStar from YoYoFactory is arguably their most powerful plastic yo-yo. Designed using the classic shape YYF is known for when talking about plastic yo-yos, the NorthStar has a wide gap and a steep taper on the side wall. The result is a large catch zone which is easy to hit. In addition to the weight rings, the NorthStar has weighted protruding center caps which further focus the weight on the rims. The NorthStar comes with a Center Trac bearing and CBC response pads.
