My very favorite Mandala from the mid-80s. The Aspen is one of the hardest to find of the older special editions from Tom Kuhn. It was made to promote Aspen Colorado by a gift shop there. A lot of the facts about this one have been lost, but we know that only 50 to 100 were made around 1985.

This Aspen Mandala is also posted to show the color variation. This one I found in an antique store in San Francisco, where the original Tom Kuhn shop was located. This one was stored away from light, and not played often. Notice the lighter finish than the other example.

Here is a story from Tom Kuhn regarding the history of this amazing Mandala...

"We visited Aspen in the 80's (and later at other times), and I remember yo-yoing in a gift shop, The store team and customers liked the wooden lasercarved yo-yo. It probably was a Flying Camel C. I gave them a TK custom yo-yos card, to pass on to the buyer. The buyer called and wanted a custom yo-yo. That's about all that i remember. Art design is a mystery, as is the quantity they ordered. "
