The Nextgen was the 2017 re-design of the classic Freehand. This one was a complete overhaul, after the Freehand Pro did not live up to expectations. This version has a unique axle system, that uses the caps to align and reduce vibrations. They also make for a model impossible to overtighten. These spin very smooth and true.

This however this also means that caps from older versions are not interchangible. And the caps hold the yo-yo together so snuggly, that removing the caps is a difficult procedure.

Further, these are responseless, and very difficult to modify for responsive play. The bearing spacer nubs are too tall to add a Half Spec C bearing. I have been able to modify them, but it requires grinding down the brass nubs with a hand file. They play wonderfully once modified, but it is a long tedious procedure.
