From the Tom Kuhn website:

"The Fat Cat high precision aluminum yo-yo by Tom Kuhn was inspired by JAZZ, the free-form, improvisational 20th-century art form. Despite being what Dr. YO calls "the FAT ONE", this yo-yo's jazzy, angular, butterfly shape fits comfortably in your hand. This is a precision sensory instrument, created to soothe the senses.

Truly a work of art, the incomparable, bright polished-mirror finish is one of the Tom Kuhn brand's signature features. This finish is only achieved by meticulous hand polishing. Its wide profile, patented precision ball bearing, adjustable gap features infused with Turbo Disc Response System calls for standing ovations every performance! This flashy yo-yo will enable intermediate and advanced yo-ers to improvise and invent new yo-yo tricks, forms, and ideas!

Dr. YO says, just spinning it to watch it "purr", clinging the halves together like temple bells is an experience he shares with his dental patients."

The production of Fat Cat was claimed to be *limited* to five hundred (500) pieces and each was supposedly sequentially numbered and dated with the year of run. However, it's not clear what exactly that meant. The date on the yo-yo in this exhibit is 2010 (this model was first released 2008) and the serial number is 0750. Clearly there were more than 500 made and in fact it is still available to buy from the Tom Kuhn website as of mid 2019.

Uses a size I ball bearing axle. Patent number 5,100,361 is engraved on the yo-yo. Engraved at the 3:00 position on side A is "1.00" (yo-yo's gap; can be altered using the gap adjustment tool) as a numerator and "1.618" (yo-yo's width) as a denominator.

Accessories that came with this yo-yo included the following:
(1) The Art of Play booklet
(1) Tom Kuhn branded carry pouch
(1) gap adjustment tool
(2) weight rings
(5) extra cotton strings
(4) replacement Turbo Disk response pads
(1) Tom Kuhn certificate

Original retail price: $150 US.
