From the Catch and Release Project website:
"Maple body with walnut axle. This big guy [71mm diameter] likes to take things nice and slow. A long spinning, relaxed throw capable of longer tricks and combos. Experience with fixed axle throws is recommended!"
The diameter of this yo-yo puts it in the category of jumbo size. Balanced and smooth.
Catch and Release Project, started and run by Austin, is a small company based near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania that makes handmade fixed axle wooden yo-yos. Their slogan is "Formed by nature, shaped by hand".
Came in a tie-dyed purple/light blue cloth drawstring bag with string and two branded stickers. The profile of this model is identical to the profile of the Duncan 'Lil Champ.
It's unfortunate that there are no identifying marks anywhere on the yo-yo; no name, no maker, no place of manufacture. Just another generic wooden yo-yo to those who don't know otherwise. For superb examples of yo-yo identification, take a look at any metal yo-yo from Tom Kuhn.
