The Mardi Gras was another very unusual model from the end of the old Duncan company. This one was produced to appeal to girls, because the halves were similar to some of the bakelite jewelry of the time. But with it's solid plastic sides and metal axle, this one was capable of long spins and appealed to everyone. Very heavy for a small, thin yo-yo.
Like the WOC, the halves were poured and no two are alike. Different colors and objects were embedded in the plastic. Colored lumps of bakelite, plastic, glitter, confetti, stars, tinsel ... So these are very colorful.
It's difficult to find a Mardi Gras with a perfect logo. Combination of pouring and the very hard solid plastic, made these difficult to stamp. The one pictured here has a very good logo for a Mardi Gras. | |
