During the last year of the 20th century, before the advent of yo-yo websites devoted to videos of players performing trick demonstrations and slow motion training, you had to turn to printed publications for yo-yo instruction (or attend a contest to watch a professional demonstrator). One such publication was Prima's Yo-Yo Book. Published in August, 1999 at the height of the great yo-yo boom in North America and Japan, the Prima book covered 96 pages of tricks for beginner, intermediate, and advanced players. It also covered yo-yo contest strategies, popular yo-yo models, maintenance, and two-handed tricks. It was a great resource for kids back then. Nearly 20 years later, it is still a fascinating look at original tricks that defined yo-yo play for more than 70 years.
