An early Country Wood Shop, Ltd. yo-yo made from Kingwood (Dalbergia cearensis). This moderately rare wood is from Brazil (and occasionally from Mexico). It has a heartwood color of dark purplish or reddish brown with darker black streaks. Kingwood is very expensive and is most often seen as smaller turning stock. Its cost is about the same as other scarce exotics in the Dalbergia genus (Rosewood). And while Kingwood is not evaluated on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, it *is* listed on CITES appendix II under the genus-wide restriction on all Dalbergia species (as of 2017), which also includes finished products made of the wood. It would be uncommon to see yo-yos made out of this species of wood anymore.
The "Executive" yo-yo line from this particular time period did not have any identification or other information stamped onto them. If these yo-yos are purchased without their accompanying box, it is easy for the casual collector to mistake them for a common variety wooden yo-yo. As such, this model of yo-yo should always be collected with their box intact and unopened. That way you not only know who made the yo-yo, but you can also easily identify the wood that the yo-yo is made out of.
Came packaged with a velour pouch, extra strings, and a trick sheet.
