The responsive AXL was originally Custom Yo-Yo's 1998 freshman release in a long line of unique aluminum, ball bearing yo-yo models that they made between 1998 and 2001. It was similar in shape to the Tom Kuhn SB-2. The AXL version today and shown here uses a size A ball bearing axle, and performance rings for the response.
This second version Custom Yo-Yo AXL--from about 2008 and later--has the following characteristics, compared to the first version made in 1998:
-Comes in a round, metal display can with a single custom foam insert space for the yo-yo.
-Includes Custom Yo-Yo's performance rings on the inside walls of the yo-yo.
-Uses a size A ball bearing axle (inside diameter 5 mm; outside diameter 10 mm; width 4 mm).
-Noticabely different font style and size on the yo-yo face.
-A superscript registered trademark symbol appears with the engraved "The AXL®" on one halve.
