What the Duncan "Imperial" yo-yo is to the USA, the one-piece Elfverson "Pro" yo-yo (and "Olympic" model) is to Canada. These classic wooden yo-yos were typically a Canadian player's first introduction to yo-yo.

Both the Olympic and Pro models were initially released in 1968 and continued to be sold under various toy company names until the early 2000s. Some design and text changes to the stamped seal have also been made over the years. Also, the yo-yos were manufactured by Elfverson, based out of Sweden, during these years.

This particular model was sold by Irwin Toys of Toronto, Ontario starting in 1999. Prior to that they were sold by Playtoy Industries, also of Canada. In December, 2002 Irwin Toys went bankrupt. Between 1999 and 2002, approximately 243,000 Pros and 56,000 Olympics were sold.

Beginning in 2003, Papa's Toy Company sold the Olympic and Pro models using the same stamped seal as the version in this exhibit. However, by 2005, both models ceased production ending a 37 year run.

Compare with similar versions from National, Parker, Canada Games, and Playtoy.
