A battery operated lighted yo-yo in the shape of an Oreo cookie from the National Biscuit Company, or more fondly known as Nabisco. The yo-yo is made of hard plastic and the sides have removable lens caps to let you change out the batteries and bulb. The lens caps are solidly in place and would probably break if they were pryed off.

From 1971. This was a premium item. You mailed $1.00 for each yo-yo ordered, plus two end tags or box tops from any size Oreo package. Offer expired December 31, 1971. The ordering instructions claimed it would take 4-6 weeks for delivery. But, in this particular case, delivery was off by about 10 months!

You mailed the money, tags or box tops, and coupon to:

The yo-yo in this exhibit was originally mailed in a very small cardboard box mailer to Mrs. R. Birch of Yakima, Washington, October, 1972.

As with many children's premium-related offers back then, it would take many months -- and sometimes more than a year -- before you received your item in the mail. By then, you probably had either forgotten about it or had lost interest.
