The Duncan Official Mickey Mouse Club Yo-Yo Return top, No. 1451. Considered version 2, blister carded.
At the end of Duncan's fiscal year, May 31, 1963--which also marked the annual conclusion of their promotions for the season until Fall--Duncan switched from using polybags to using blister cards (also known as bubble cards) for many of their products. A poly-bagged version of this yo-yo, seen in "Other Examples" below, was released about April or May of 1963. Both the poly-bagged and blister card editions are identical and considered version 2. The challenging to find version 1 edition has a single head of Mickey Mouse on side A while side B says, "Mickey Mouse Club - Duncan Yo-Yo Return Top".
Besides the move to bubble cards, May 1963 also marks the time when Duncan began to replace alphanumeric and two- and three-digit product stock codes with four-digit codes instead. Knowing this information can help you date early to mid-1960s Duncan yo-yo products.
