Marketoy Company (USA) Twin Twirler in translucent blue plastic. A 2-in-1 toy that you could play as a return top or a spinning top.

This model was originally released sometime around 1953 as the Twin Twirler Bat made by Kusan. This Marketoy Company version is identical in shape to the Kusan version.

Packaging does not have a ZIP code in the address which suggests it may have been sold sometime in the early to mid 1960s. In all likelihood, however, it was probably sold in the very late 1960s to early 1970s. There is no patent number printed anywhere on the packaging, unlike the Kusan Twin Twirler Bat packaging.

Note the C-shaped "self-starter" inside the packaging. The self-starter was a new addition to the Twin Twirler. The back of the packaging illustrates and describes its use.

This same yo-yo--with nearly identical packaging--was also sold in eastern Canada, also by The Marketoy Company (the manufacturing and sales company for Silly Putty in Canada).

While Kusan made the Flying Eagle, Bat, and Falcon models, there are some who claim that Kusan (or any of the other companies that also made Twin Twirlers) also made a "Hawk" model. If so, none have ever been seen or found. In all likelihood, the story is false.

Marketoy Company was based out of New Haven, Connecticut.
