1942, one year after this patch was issued, was the last year that Duncan awarded Winner patches. After that, wood and other resources were directed toward the country's efforts during World War II. It would take another six years before Duncan began to manufacture yo-yos again and restart yo-yo contests, beginning with the 1948 Winner patch.
