This is the most recent version (as of 2006) of the black flying eagle champion patches. Over the years, Duncan has gradually reduced the dimensions of the patch, made slight design variations, and used different color schemes altogether. The black flying eagle patch has been used from about 1950 to the 1990s (and probably beyond).
This version is a significant departure from the traditional 25+ year old design. Of note, five stars are used (instead of three), "Duncan" was moved from in front of the eagle to a prominent location below the eagle and appears stylized for branding purposes; there is no outline detailing of the eagle, and the bird is holding a yo-yo in its claws. The outline shape of the patch is also narrower. Such is the price of change and economy.
Since the early 1950s, the Duncan Flying Eagle Champion patch has been released in the following six versions:
• Blue Flying Eagle Champion, version 1
• Blue Flying Eagle Champion, version 2
• Blue Flying Eagle Champion, version 3
• Black Flying Eagle Champion, version 1
• Black Flying Eagle Champion, version 2
• Black Flying Eagle Champion, version 3 | | | |
