Second place Cheerio Winner Tops award patch, likely from the early 1950s. Notice that the patch is composed of two separate pieces: an upper portion and a lower portion. The lower portion -- Winner Cheerio Tops -- was always done in blue or red embroidery on a white background. The upper portion, however, could be customized to say Second or Third, or embroidered with a contest sponsor's logo on it in much the same way Duncan did with this patch from roughly the same time period. The upper portion was usually done in red or gold embroidery on a white, red, or blue background, then sewn to the bottom portion. At a quick first glance, you could easily mistake this patch for a Duncan award patch.
