The oversized, freshman debut of the yo-yo called Orange by the boutique yo-yo maker known as UPDN. Roughly the size of a large orange and slightly smaller than a grapefruit, this yo-yo apparently redefined play for players everywhere. Even YoYoFactory praised the Orange in a short-lived Instagram reel. Its unique, unconventional size challenges players to adapt and execute larger, more dynamic tricks, fundamentally changing how they approach regular, smaller yo-yos.
The concept for the Orange was born from the mind of Andrew Bergen, whose 20 years of yo-yo experience and attention to detail drove its development. He partnered with Jameson Larkins of Throw Spiral, the technical design was crafted to incorporate an innovative Anti-Stick recess that prevents snagging, allowing for smoother, uninterrupted play. Despite its imposing appearance, the yo-yo is light, giving users an almost weightless, levitating sensation as it moves on the string.
Though it may seem unusual, the Orange has been described by some players as "surprisingly playable." Its distinct size and feel pushed players out of their comfort zones, enhancing their skills and reshaping their approach to traditional yo-yos. In short, the Orange by UPDN was big, bold, and it's set to make you play differently. Certainly an experience that has the potential to leave an impact on every other yo-yo you pick up and play afterward.

About UPDN
From a post by Andrew Bergen on August 4, 2024:
"I have a new yo-yo company, and a new yo-yo!
I have been yo-yoing for 20 years and finally figured out what I want to do in the yo-yo world.
UPDN's mission statement is to 'make yo-yo dumber.' Or, in other words, less serious, and more fun.
The first yo-yo [I have made] is called the Orange. It is approximately the size and shape of a large orange." | |
