About the 2004 Japan National Yo-Yo Contest
Run by the Japan Yo-Yo Contest Committee, the body that later evolved into today's JYYF (Japan Yo-Yo Federation). Champions included Hiroyuki Suzuki (1A), Koji Yokoyama (2A), Daisuke Shimada (3A), Tsubasa Onishi (4A), and Hiroyasu Ishihara (5A).

Japan’s national championship for competitive yo-yo, contested in five freestyle divisions (1A–5A). Results pages show judging by Technical Execution (TE), and Performance/Presentation (PS) with a combined total. The event took place Sunday, March 28, 2004 at Kita City (Tokyo), in the Go Elementary School Gymnasium.

The Japan Nationals crowns Japan’s champions and (as a rule for the event) awards seeding to the World Yo-Yo Contest to its winners (the same year Worlds were held in Orlando, Florida, USA). Several JN2004 champions then figured prominently at Worlds including Hiroyuki Suzuki who won 1A Worlds 2004; Daisuke Shimada was in the middle of a 3A Worlds title streak (2003–2005); Tsubasa Onishi later captured the 4A world title in 2010.
