This Doraemon yo-yo features the face of Doraemon, a blue male robot cat from the popular Japanese manga series Doraemon. He is a major character in the series and the older brother of Dorami, a female robot cat. The yo-yo has a molded plastic body, a metal axle, and comes with a cotton string.
Show premise: One day, a round, blue, cat-style robot named Doraemon appears in front of Nobita-san. Doraemon has been sent back in time by Nobita’s great-great-grandson to prevent Nobita from making mistakes that would plunge his descendants into poverty. This is no easy task, as Nobita is notoriously unlucky, weak, and lazy. Fortunately, Doraemon has a four-dimensional pocket containing futuristic gadgets from the 22nd century, which he uses to help Nobita navigate various problems.
This rare yo-yo was not made available for general sale, and the exact method of distribution is unknown. It was officially licensed by Fujiko-Pro, Shogakukan, and TV-Asahi of Japan. Epoch Raku produced four different character yo-yos from this long-running series.
The yo-yo was distributed by Argos Co., Ltd., Tokyo, Japan, and released in 2002.
