The Glow ProYo® by Playmaxx, Inc. of Tucson, Arizona was released during the yo-yo boom of 1999. The yo-yo body was made from a phosphorescent plastic that glows after being exposed to light, making it fun to play in low-light conditions.
It featured a wooden transaxle, consistent with Playmaxx's focus on high-performance fixed axle yo-yos in the 1990s. The yo-yo was also take-apart with a bolt-and-nut system, making it easy to replace strings or axles (extra string and axle were included). The website shown on the front of the packaging is defunct.
The Glow ProYo is a variant of the original ProYo, which was a favorite among fixed axle competitors before the ball bearing boom in the early 2000s.
It is interesting to note that the ProYo brand was strong enough to rival even Duncan in the 1990s. Eventually, Duncan (Flambeau) acquired ProYo/Playmaxx in the early 2000s and absorbed some of its designs.
