The Museum of Yo-Yo History is a labor of love, and we would not be able to stay up-to-date with exhibits without the support of our sponsors and curators. Big thanks go to One Drop Design and Duncan for supplying us with their latest models, YoYoExpert for their help and support, and to Cody Orr, TotalArtist and YoYoBrothers™ for allowing us to use their collections!

Duncan Freehand Original - 2002 Mid-East Regional (MER) Yo-Yo Contest (inauguration year of the contest). Solid purple body with white sidecaps and black, blue, red, yellow, and brown printing. Production number is unknown on this model. One of the very first custom sidecap editions of the new Freehand that was made. The body of this contest model was made using the original Duncan Freehand molds. And, just like the very first Freehand from 2001, this 2002 edition only came with one extra string, one Freehand counter-weight dice, and an instruction sheet. These original Freehand mold yo-yos are much harder to come by nowadays.

From 2002 through 2004 the Mid-East Regional Yo-Yo Championships were organized by Steve Brown. Steve was the inventor of the Freehand yo-yo and freehand play.

Released July 2002.
