The color scheme of this Freehand One AL was modeled after the very first Freehand model that Duncan released back in 2001.

From the Duncan website:
"An homage to the late great original Freehand from 2001, revered in the yo-yo community by merit of how cool it is alone: We are happy to present you with the Freehand One AL!

We think of this yo-yo as more of a love letter to the original Freehand than a pure remake: We wanted to recreate everything we all love about the original Freehand, throwing in just a dash of modern yo-yo design into the mix.

One of the coolest features of the Freehand line of yo-yos has always been the caps: You can collect 'em, customize 'em, and show 'em off to your friends. Caps are cool. So one of the features we just had to include with the Freehand One AL was interchangeable caps. In fact, the Freehand One AL even accepts your old plastic Freehand caps! Keeping with the reputation that the Freehand has of being a very customizable yo-yo, in addition to interchangeable caps, you can also interchange the bearing from the default full-size bearing to a half-spec, allowing your Freehand to shred both responsive AND unresponsive tricks!

Let go and break the conventional rules of yo-yoing with the Freehand One AL!"

From the yoyorewind website:
"The Freehand ONE AL follows in the footsteps of the original Freehands, infused with the essence of modern yo-yos.

The Freehand ONE AL takes up the mantle of Duncan's original flagship butterfly yo-yo, the Freehand, while also weaving in the modern trends of yo-yo design into the mix. A full metal yo-yo but still maintaining the same body shape and size as the original Freehand, and even including classic-shaped aluminum side caps. That unforgettable playfeel of the original Freehand is maintained, but the upgrade to a size C bearing gives a smoother spin to the Freehand ONE AL.

If you really want to bridge the gap between old and new, you can swap the bearing out for a size C- bearing, changing the axle to an M4x6mm model, and adding a few drops of looping oil will change your Freehand ONE AL to a tug-response setting, giving you the original school feeling with a whole new flavor.

Normal colors come with a Rapid Ball counterweight. The gold colorway comes with a 'Cap' style counterweight.

*Although the maker says that it is possible to replace the side caps, it's important to note that this construction is much more tight than the plastic models, and is much riskier to perform this operation. We've found that it's quite difficult to do this, and we do not recommend trying this modification unless you really know what you're doing.

*This model has been designed to recreate the feeling of past Freehand models, and isn't particularly designed for modern styles of play. For more stable, long-sleeping modern metal yo-yos, we recommend checking out our list of affordable modern metal yo-yos."

Recipe
Diameter: 56mm
Weight: 66 gm
Width: 40mm
Gap: 4mm
Material: 6061 aluminum
Response: 19mm slim
Bearing: Size C, Dif-e-yo KonKave

To accommodate a size C half spec ball bearing axle with this yo-yo, you must use an M4 x 6mm axle with the slim bearing. An 8mm axle is too long.

The yellow tint seen near the rims in the Profile picture and the Side, angled, large picture was manufacturing dust. It was not noticed until after the pictures were taken. Other yo-yos from this series exhibit this same issue. Fortunately, the dust is easily removed with a clean cloth.
