The Museum of Yo-Yo History is a labor of love, and we would not be able to stay up-to-date with exhibits without the support of our sponsors and curators. Big thanks go to One Drop Design and Duncan for supplying us with their latest models, YoYoExpert for their help and support, and to Cody Orr, TotalArtist and YoYoBrothers™ for allowing us to use their collections!

Russell Yo-Yos was known for soft drink promotions around the world, usually Coca Cola products. Most often these promotions were not in the USA. Most Russells seem to come from South America and Asia. And there were so many promotions. The shear number of countries, promotions, logos and body types make collecting Russell yo-yos challenging.

The yo-yo is multi-piece plastic with a wooden axle. Weight distribution designed into the body with attached side caps. Russells like this one were known for their excellent looping characteristics. But I have seen serious players like Daniel Volk do amazing string tricks with these simple yo-yos.

This is an example of an older Russell... I am estimating from the 1960s. For a promotion in Peru. This is my favorite body type from Russell with rounded streamlined caps and recessed logo text.
