The Museum of Yo-Yo History is a labor of love, and we would not be able to stay up-to-date with exhibits without the support of our sponsors and curators. Big thanks go to One Drop Design and Duncan for supplying us with their latest models, YoYoExpert for their help and support, and to Cody Orr, TotalArtist and YoYoBrothers™ for allowing us to use their collections!

Union Wadding's Festival brand of yo-yos included a plastic butterfly called the Dragonfly™. Union Wadding let the trademark expire after 20 years in late 1991. Playmaxx began using the trademark in the late 1980s, early 1990s, but didn't register the name until 2000. Today, Duncan is the owner of the "Dragon Fly" [sic] trademark name.

The back of the card included instructions on how to wind the yo-yo and how to hold it. It also included a mail-in offer for Bob Rule's booklet of "Yo-Yo Secrets". Bob was one of the last demonstrators on the original Duncan Yo-Yo company payroll before he began demonstrating for Festival. Interestingly, in 2016, when asked what advancements in yo-yos were his favorite to see [over his lifetime], Bob commented, "Probably the advancement I see the most is the Butterfly invented by Wayne Lunberg. I called it a 'bicycle with training wheels' but had to accept it as it helped the players advance in skill so fast."

Collected March 26, 2016.
