Sponsors and Curators
The Museum of Yo-Yo History is a labor of love, and we would not be able to stay up-to-date with exhibits without the support of our sponsors and curators. Big thanks go to One Drop Design and Duncan for supplying us with their latest models, YoYoExpert for their help and support, and to Cody Orr, TotalArtist and YoYoBrothers™ for allowing us to use their collections!
If you're a manufacturer, or just a big collector and you want to help support the Museum drop me at line at chimera@yoyomuseum.com

Bandai's "HyperCluster DX Customize Set" released July 21, 2012.
The entire HyperCluster series of yo-yos and yo-yo components was quite large. To help you keep it all organized, Bandai released a special edition case for yo-yo players. Besides the case, which held your extra yo-yo bodies, core axles, bearings, and string, it also came with a limited edition "HyperCluster MB2-S3 String Loop D FlashFenrir" in orange, and a limited edition "HyperCluster MB2-S3 String Loop H FlashFenrir" yo-yo body in blue. Both the yo-yo and the yo-yo body were exclusive to the customizing case only.
The orange FlashFenrir used a size A ball bearing. The D-shaped body was designed for looping, meaning it had high insides and a narrow string gap. For the response system, the core used String-On-String (aka "SOS") combined with a starburst. The SOS system was originally developed by YoYoFactory for their Loop 720 yo-yo. Basically, it's a yo-yo string that is woven into the core face, next to the bearing. Unfortunately, if the woven string wore out or became cut, it was next to impossible to re-weave the string. In such cases, you would have to rely exclusively on the starburst response and probably use a thicker string.
If you wanted to change the looping yo-yo to a string trick yo-yo, you could easily swap out the orange D-shaped body halves and install the blue H-shaped body halves while still using the same core and bearing.
The HyperCluster series took the ease of yo-yo customization to a whole new level. The box showed you other configurations you could build using compatible core parts and bearings from other HyperCluster-series yo-yos.
Like all the yo-yos in this line, you could use any of them to earn your Hyper Yo-Yo certification from an authorized Bandai Yo-Yo dealer.
Came with one storage case, one complete yo-yo, and one body halve set.
Original retail price: $80 US. | |
